Our Orchestras

Warrington Youth Orchestra consists of several ensembles suitable for different instruments and levels of playing.  We are keen to progress players from one ensemble to the next when they are ready, and new members will be entered into the appropriate section based upon ability and experience. We aim for all our players to experience the excitement of playing in an orchestra setting.

Strings section:
violin, viola, cello and double bass

Woodwind section:
clarinet, oboe, flute and bassoon

Brass section:
trumpet, cornet, French horn, trombone, tuba and percussion

Our Beginner Groups

The Beginner groups offer an ideal opportunity for youngsters to find out if they are interested in taking up a musical instrument.  Children are welcome to come along and try out different instruments to see if they might be interested in learning to play them.  There is no requirement for them to have even picked up an instrument before.

We are keen to encourage as many children as possible to acquire a love of playing music.  We have a large selection of instruments of different sizes, and there is no need to buy an instrument to get involved.  For more information drop us a line, give us a call, or look at the ‘Take Part’ section of this website.

Our Beginner groups involve sessions lasting between 20 minutes to one hour on a Saturday morning.

All of our groups will have an opportunity to perform during the year, and we hope that members of these groups will go on to be members of our more advanced ensembles as they progress with their instrument.
