Hilden Musikschule Visit to WYO October 2009

This autumn Warrington Youth Orchestra is again taking part in an exchange visit with the Music School of Warrington’s twin town of Hilden, Germany. This exchange began in 1978 and was established as part of the town-twinning arrangements in order to forge cultural links. By staying with host families orchestra members learn about day to day life in their twin town.

As the membership of the orchestra changes, so new links are formed with each visit.  Notably:-

· One member of the Hilden Musikschule has taken part in all but one of the exchange visits, home and away!

· In the last couple of years some members of the Hilden group have spent a term at school in England, hosted by members of the Warrington Youth Orchestra.

· Several families have maintained links many years after their children have left the orchestras and still make private visits.
