How to join
Due to the successful progression of our young musicians through the orchestral and tutor groups, applications are now open to join Warrington Youth Orchestra! Get in touch for a free tour and an introduction to our friendly organisation.
The orchestra is open to any young person in the Warrington area aged 5 to 20 years old who plays an orchestral instrument. We do take absolute beginners, please contact us to see which places are available. However anyone who has been learning an instrument for a few months will be able to join in with the junior groups. We offer instrument hire, which is complementary for beginners (dependent on availability). We currently have a healthy number of violins in store, of different sizes to cater for growing children, as well as brass and woodwind instruments!
If you do not play a traditional orchestra instrument but read music, we would still be interested in hearing from you if you have an interest in playing in our percussion sections (hello pianists – this means you!).
More experienced players are always welcome. When you first arrive we will place you with the appropriate group depending on the grade you have attained. After a few weeks we will confirm your position with a short informal audition with one of our tutors.
As a member of Warrington Youth Orchestra, at whatever level, we expect a commitment of at least 80% attendance.
Full membership of the Warrington Youth Orchestra is £42 per term for eldest child, £37 per term for 2nd child in same family, £32 per term for 3rd and subsequent children in same family.
There will be a late payment charge of £5 if payment is not received within three the first weeks of term.
Beginners’ Groups / 1st hour sectional attendance only: £25 per child per term.
Instrument Hire: Instruments for beginners’ strings are provided at no charge. Other instruments are charged at £15 per term for members and £25 per term for non-members.
