Beginners Groups

The Beginner groups offer an ideal opportunity for youngsters from primary age upwards to find out if they are interested in taking up a musical instrument without an initial major outlay of cash. Beginners groups involve a session of group tuition on a Saturday morning of either ½ or 1 hour. When players have attended for six weeks a half membership subscription will be requested (£25 per term).

Parents are asked to hire or buy an instrument after a number of months usually once the child has progressed to the junior groups. The instrument can be hired from WYO if one is available. Also at this point the child is expected to start individual lessons.
The groups will have an opportunity to perform during the year, and we hope that members of these groups will go on to be members of our more advanced ensembles as they progress with their instrument.
